Dr. Marvin A. Carter II, Principal

Dr. Marvin A. Carter II is Principal of Irondale Middle School. He is a native of Wilcox County, Alabama and has earned four degrees from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. As an educator, Dr. Carter has served in various capacities between two school districts: a middle school history teacher, assistant principal, and principal. He has received numerous awards and honors, including being named the Alabama District IV Teacher of the Year. Dr. Carter's passion is working with other educators and stakeholders to support the academic and extracurricular success of students as we guide them towards post-secondary options by equipping them with academic, extracurricular, and life skills to become productive citizens.

Mr. John Murphree - Assistant Principal

Hello Mountie Nation! I am starting my 22nd year in education, 5th year serving in the role as an assistant principal, and my first year at Irondale Middle School. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Math Education from Auburn University, and a Master's in Educational Leadership from UAB. Outside of the math classroom, I spent 12 years coaching football, softball, and/or tennis.

I am blessed with two sons, Jack (9) and Charlie (7), who constantly keep me on my toes.
