National Honor Society

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. No one is admitted solely on the basis of a high GPA, and membership is by invitation only.  Students who qualify preliminarily are invited to apply in their junior year. They will then construct an application packet demonstrating qualifications based on the four membership pillars above. A faculty honors council will review applications and extend invitations based on those results. New members are inducted each fall in a special ceremony.Yearly membership is $25; seniors also pay for NHS graduation stoles/cords at an extra charge. NHS members must perform 30 hours of community service each year in order to remain in the society.
